According to Health Canada, everyone over six months old should receive the flu vaccine every year. It is especially important for the following to receive their flu vaccination:
- Pregnant women
- People 65 years and older
- People with chronic health conditions (cancer, diabetes, heart, lung, or kidney disorders)
- Aboriginal peoples
- People who work with vulnerable individuals or capable of transmitting the flu virus (schoolteachers, healthcare workers, essential community services)

Getting a flu shot protects not just you, but also those around you. By taking measures to reduce your chances of catching the flu, you also avoid passing it on to those close to you.
How can I get the flu shot?
Select the province where you would like to receive your flu shot. Follow the prompts to complete your appointment. Additionally, you can speak to your pharmacist to learn more.

British Columbia Residents – Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. To book an appointment, register online at getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca, or call: 1-833-838-2323. Once you are registered, you can book through the provincial booking system. Be sure to select your Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods or Urban Fare Pharmacy of choice.

Fluzone® High Dose – Seniors 65 years and older
Health Canada recommends enhanced influenza vaccines for adults 65 years and older due to their higher risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and even death from the flu virus. Fluzone High Dose* is a quadrivalent flu vaccine that covers four strains of the flu virus and has 4 times the concentration than standard flu vaccines; this is intended to give a better immune response and protection for this population group.(*Public coverage for FLUZONE® High-Dose will vary between provinces.
